Regional accents in Australia do exist, but they are extremely mild compared to the differences in other places like UK. I've lived in NSW & QLD and the only noticable difference is the pronounciation of 'pool' as 'pewl'.

Aussie here; visited UK & Ireland last year and had no trouble striking up conversations everywhere I went. “Smile and the world smiles with you” my sister always said.

Cinema in the UK is £14 a ticket. Interestingly monthly membership is also £14 🤔. Australian prices are basically the same as UK nowadsys - its just sounds like more because instead of £10 you're paying $20 😅. The only thing is houses are actualky way cheaper in Australia nowadays, especially if you calculate per sq m. And most importantly you have waaaay better weather than we have here in England... When I first got here & went to the supermarket for the 1st time- I was greeted with such enthusiasm I thought the girl serving me was talking to her friend behind me - so I turned around- nobody was there! She was talking to me!! I must have seemed very off to her as I was just not used to it ! Just a grunt was a U k shopping experience!! & since going back- it’s worse . Thanks for reminding me how wonderful Australian people & this beautiful country is 🇦🇺😊

Australia is no longer what it used to be. The standard of living has been on a significant decline in recent years mostly due to housing and a lack of productivity. We built a beautiful home here that unfortunately my kids will never be able to afford. The next generation isn't being given a fair go

Accent differences in Aus are definitely less pronounced, but certainly there. There's a broader accent in the North (Qld and parts of Northern NSW) and a more refined (more British, dare I say) in SA. It's definitely not as distinct as some of the different ones you get in the UK. But for something interesting, look up a video of Australian sport (especially cricket) from the 1940s or 50s - the accents are definitely Australian, but quite different to what you hear today.....

Haha , I’m here in England now . Been in London for a while and have been getting the meal deals from sainsbury and a few other places . Our supermarkets in Australia don’t make sandwiches, not many anyway .I’ve noticed a lot prepared packaged meals in England too . I dunno , maybe Brit’s don’t like cooking lol . I’ve had fish and chips a few times , I’m in Dover at the moment. It definitely is a false conception that Brit’s make the best fish and chips . No way . I’ve had much better in Australia. Actually, I’m missing Australia right now . Taxi in Gatwick was $40 for a 5 minute ride to the hotel !!!!

Ha. After 50 odd years and multiple aborted attempts to complete my citizenship application due to sheer exasperation, finally was able to dedicate the time needed to get it done. Be prepared to stab your eyes out..the process is atrocious! Lost count of how many time my DOB was requested! Left Britain in 1975 , been back three times, two for funerals and one to show the kids (adults) where we used to live. Every time I went back it was more overcrowded and congested, average to terrible weather. When did Britain first get reticulated water? A lot of the houses already existed and got on tap in the kitchen, with the loo and bath added on to the back of the house. Yeah, a washing machine would be better in the bathroom, but why do they keep doing it in new homes and renovated homes.

washers in the kitchen is probably just a result of homes in the UK being very old and not designed with a washer in mind. The most straightforward place with space, water inlet and outlet is the kitchen.
